Arsenal officially announced the postponement of their u23 game against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, moving the game from Friday, December 17th to Friday, March 4th, 2022.

Arsenal had moved their planned u23 fixture against Tottenham Hotspur into the “TBC” category on their fixture page earlier in the day, hinting at a postponement.

The Premier League 2 game was set to take place on Friday at 19:00 at Meadow Park, but the last few days had thrown that into doubt.

Football.London report that several youth players were involved in the original group of positive Covid tests at Spurs, and further reports now suggest new cases.

Given the Arsenal youth players train at London Colney, just like the first team, the club will be keen to avoid any chance of either team infecting the other.

It means an early start to the academy winter break, which was set to begin after the Spurs game.

Ideally, they wouldn’t want to eat into their youth players’ mid-season break, which is why the game has been moved so far back.

U23 fixture lists don’t tend to be too congested anyway, so there was always going to be time at some stage. Better to be safe than sorry with all the infections going around.
