Dani Ceballos has always been adamant that he wants to make it at Real Madrid.

Unlike Martin Odegaard, who found himself in the same sort of boat as his former teammate, Ceballos was still clinging on to that dream.

Now that he has recovered from the ankle injury he picked up when he was crippled in Spain’s opening game at the Olympics this summer, it seems Ceballos has realised he won’t be getting into the Real Madrid side on a regular basis any time soon.

According to SuperDeporte in Spain, both Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez (a big Ceballos fan) and head coach Carlo Ancelotti, have given the green light for his transfer.

Ceballos has also, reportedly, given the go-ahead, opting for a return to Betis over other proposals that have been made.

Jose Mourinho and AS Roma were said to be interested after failing to land Granit Xhaka in the summer but they have now turned to Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Ceballos signed for Real Madrid from Real Betis in 2017 for £14.85m and has made just 56 appearances for them, 19 fewer than he made for Arsenal.

During 77 games as a Gunner, Ceballos scored a grand total of two goals, with five assists.

Ceballos made the bench for the first time this season on 19 December but he was out of the Real Madrid squad for their next game a few days later.
