It was a busy week for Arsenal players in Teams of the Week following the 3-0 win over Southampton at the weekend.

Arsenal dominated the WhoScored Team of the Week, which is based purely on their statistical data for individual performances.

Aaron Ramsdale had the highest rating (8.46) of Arsenal’s three entrants in the eleven, after his six saves and 75% pass success rate.

Gabriel Martinelli (8.29) also made it in, having provided an assist from his three key passes and making three tackles on top of that.

Finally, Alexandre Lacazette (7.71) managed to earn a place in the side for his goal, three aerial duels won, one key pass, and one successful dribble.

Funnily enough, none of the three were Garth Crooks’ pick for an Arsenal appearance in the BBC Team of the Week. Instead, he chose Gabriel Magalhaes.

Crooks argued that Gabriel is one of the reasons Arsenal have continued to improve under Mikel Arteta, despite often not playing particularly well as a team.

He added that “whenever the Brazilian is available, Arsenal look solid at the back and also a threat in attack”.

Personally, I would’ve found it difficult to leave out Ramsdale. The goalkeeper was excellent in every aspect, from making saves to punching crosses to playing inch-perfect passes the length of the field.

The Sheffield United summer signing would have been my first Arsenal pick for a Team of the Week this week, but the other three would be up there as well.
