Matteo Guendouzi’s performances with Marseille this season have earned the midfielder a call-up to the France team and, while Mikel Arteta seems to have no interest in the player whatsoever, that’s not the case for a host of other clubs around Europe.

Newcastle are the latest side to be linked with Guendouzi, all that Saudi cash starting to burn holes in their pockets.

What really happened between Mikel Arteta and Matteo Guendouzi?

Even though they are now the richest club in the world, Newcastle would not have to break the bank to sign Guendouzi after his value plummeted following his fall-out with Mikel Arteta.

That being said, they might not even get the chance to buy him as it is reported that Marseille have an automatic option to purchase the player at the end of his loan for the rather pathetic sum of €11m.
