Per the original schedule, Arsenal were set to face Chelsea in the Premier League away from home on Saturday, February 12th.

That game will now be moved, due to the hosts’ participation at the Club World Cup.

FIFA’s international club competition between each continent’s champions has been scheduled for the 3rd to the 12th of February.

Given the UEFA entrant only joins the competition in the semi-final, Chelsea will certainly be featuring in the latter stages of the event, so there’s no chance they return in time for the Arsenal game as it stands.

This probably isn’t terrible news for Arsenal.

Given the lack of European football for Mikel Arteta’s side, moving one game isn’t going to create a huge amount of congestion.

On Chelsea’s side, it may well force them to play multiple games in a few days, and that would obviously be a good thing from the Gunners’ point of view.

We’ll have to wait and see where the game is moved. The worst-case scenario would be that it’s moved to an earlier date, when Arsenal will be missing players due to the Africa Cup of Nations.

For now, it’s all still up in the air.
