Aaron Ramsey looks set to return to the Premier League in January as Juventus look to push him out the door.

Aaron Ramsey stole the show, on the occasion of Gareth Bale’s 100th cap, by scoring two goals to keep Wales in with a shout of qualifying for the Qatar World Cup next year.

Ramsey has only played a handful of minutes of football for Juventus this season, however, and while it is unlikely that he would lose his place in the Wales team, Ramsey is said to be keen to move to get more minutes in before the tournament.

The midfielder, who will turn 31 on Boxing Day, has played just 112 minutes this season – 98 in Serie A and 14 in the Champions League.

A few weeks ago, it was reported that Newcastle United would apparently like to sign Ramsey and, as they are probably the only club on the planet able to afford his wages, that’s a nice little coincidence.

I have no idea how true that rumour is but it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Ramsey rock up at St James’s Park.

Perhaps he he will join on loan in January to get a taster.

Either way, Juventus have been trying to shift the former Arsenal man for a while and could very well be eyeing up a nice little windfall from the world’s richest club.

Ramsey is said to earn about €350kpw, a wage agreed because he didn’t come with any sort of transfer fee from Arsenal.

It was reported that Juventus wanted to move Ramsey on during the summer but the Welshman wasn’t that bothered about leaving.

West Ham and Crystal Palace have also been linked, while Leicester City were the last club to find themselves embroiled in Ramsey’s future.

Calciomercatonews reported that Juventus would quite like to sign Timonty Castagne from the Foxes, with an ‘exchange of loans’ between the two clubs involving the 25-year-old Belgian and Ramsey. Both loans would also come with a ‘right of redemption’.

That story died as quickly as it arrived and then we moved on to Newcastle.

What is notable is that Arsenal are not being linked.

Yet.
