Newcastle United would apparently like to sign Aaron Ramsey and, as they are probably the only club on the planet able to afford his wages, that’s a nice little coincidence.

I have no idea how true this rumour is but it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Ramsey rock up at St James’s Park.

Perhaps he he will join on loan in January to get a taster.

Either way, Juventus have been trying to shift the former Arsenal man for a while and could very well be eyeing up a nice little windfall from the world’s richest club.

Ramsey is said to earn about €350kpw, a wage agreed because he didn’t come with any sort of transfer fee from Arsenal.

The midfielder, who will turn 31 on Boxing Day, has played just 112 minutes this season – 98 in Serie A and 14 in the Champions League.

Ramsey has been ruled out of three games with muscular problems. In the three Serie A games he’s featured in, he’s played as defensive mid (his only start), attacking mid and central mid.

It was reported that Juventus wanted to move Ramsey on during the summer but the Welshman wasn’t that bothered about leaving.

West Ham and Crystal Palace have also been linked, while Leicester City were the last club to find themselves embroiled in Ramsey’s future.

Calciomercatonews reported that Juventus would quite like to sign Timonty Castagne from the Foxes, with an ‘exchange of loans’ between the two clubs involving the 25-year-old Belgian and Ramsey. Both loans would also come with a ‘right of redemption’.

That story died as quickly as it arrived and now we’re on to Newcastle.

Ramsey’s contract in Turin runs until 2023 and the midfielder was also briefly linked with a move to Spurs, but he’s already made his feelings on that sort of move perfectly clear.
