Arsenal confirmed on Wednesday that Aaron Ramsdale won the club’s Player of the Month award for October. They report that Ramsdale received 60% of the fan votes, ahead of Emile Smith Rowe in second and Gabriel Magalhaes in third.

The Gunners had a strong few weeks, beating Leicester City, Leeds United, and Aston Villa, despite opening the month with a pair of draws against Brighton and Crystal Palace.

Arsenal’s strong defensive record over the month will be why Ramsdale and Gabriel both received nominations and votes. The two have been consistently impressive in limiting the opposition to just three goals in their four games in October.

But Ramsdale ended up winning the vote, and his performance against Leicester City surely played a big part. The goalkeeper made eight saves that day to ensure Arsenal went home with a clean sheet.

Ramsdale also kept a clean sheet against Brighton, making a vital intervention to prevent a Neal Maupay tap-in at one stage. Though he did concede to Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, he was unlucky to face some excellent finishing in those two games.

Congratulations to Ramsdale on the award, which shows just how far he’s come in the eyes of the fans since the summer.
