Aaron Ramsdale made himself a popular figure again with his goalkeeping on Saturday, but he also won some over with his reaction to the Leicester fans.

Aaron Ramsdale arguably put in his best performance in an Arsenal shirt on Saturday, making eight saves and two high claims as well as completing some excellent passes out from the back.

The 23-year-old seemed to be full of confidence, and the Leicester City fans tried and failed to get under his skin in the second half.

As Ramsdale ran up to kick the ball out, the Leicester fans tried to ramp up the pressure with a building “ohhh” chant before shouting “you’re sh*t, ahh” as the goalkeeper kicked the ball. But after his kick, Ramsdale turned around and chanted it with them.

Part of the reason Arsenal fans have taken to Ramsdale so quickly is that he has such a likeable personality. He gets on well with his new teammates, he celebrates every big save or goal with the fans, and he’s happy to banter with the opposition support too.

Then there are the other stories you read about him off the pitch, like his kickabout with young AFC Wimbledon fans last week, or the fact he brought his grandfather’s ashes to his signing day with Arsenal.

The Arsenal fans, and football fans in general, seemed to love Ramsdale’s latest entry into the catalogue of reasons to like him.
