Nicklas Bendtner has had his £176,000 Porsche seized after clocking up a number of driving offences.
Back in April, 2018, it was reported that Nicklas Bendtner was in trouble with the law again. This time, he’d been clocked doing 157kmph in a 110km zone.
At the time it was reported, it was claimed that the likely outcome of his court appearance would be the seizure of his car and that’s exactly what’s happened. He also faced five charges of driving without a valid licence along with two speeding charges.
Bendtner was driving with a valid UK driving licence at the time, a point that was made at the hearing last week. Bendtner said: “It had been my belief that it was a fully valid driving licence. I don’t know how to explain it any differently.”
The former Arsenal striker was also given a fine of £4,600 with a 20-day jail term if he fails to pay his fine.
Bendtner, who was not in court to hear the sentence being handed out, will also have to pay court costs after being found guilty of all seven charges.
Nicklas Bendtner retires at 33 to move into coaching
Back in April, Nicklas Bendtner announced his retirement from football at the age of 33, intending to move into coaching.
Bendtner most recently played for Tårnby FF, but he also spent time with VfL Wolfsburg, Nottingham Forest, Rosenborg, and Copenhagen since leaving Arsenal in 2014.
Speaking in quotes reported by the Daily Mail, Bendtner confirmed he was planning for life after professional football as a player.
“Football is a big part of my life and I can not leave it,” Bendtner said.
“That is why I am in the process of taking the coaching education. I hope it will give me as much or maybe more than it did as a player.
“That way, I will always be a part of football.”
Arsenal wished Bendtner a happy retirement, after 171 appearances, 47 goals and 22 assists for the Gunners.
The striker also made 81 appearances and scored 30 goals for Denmark, playing for his country from 2006 to 2018.
According to Tårnby’s website, Bendtner had scored two goals and assisted three in his four appearances for their Old Boys side this season.
