The Premier League have announced their nominees for September’s Manager of the Month award, and Mikel Arteta is among the five selected.

Arteta joins Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Graham Potter, and Dean Smith on the list, after winning every game with Arsenal in September.

Arsenal recorded consecutive clean-sheet victories over Norwich and Burnley, both 1-0, before easing past Spurs 3-1 to top things off. Though it doesn’t count towards the award, Arsenal also won 3-0 in the League Cup, so things went well in September.

None of the other nominees had a perfect record, though they all had strong months:

  • Guardiola: 2 wins (Leicester and Chelsea), 1 draw (Southampton)
  • Klopp: 2 wins (Leeds and Palace), 1 draw (Brentford)
  • Potter: 2 wins (Brentford and Leicester), 1 draw (Palace)
  • Smith: 2 wins (Everton and Manchester United), 1 defeat (Chelsea)

You can vote here. Whether Arteta wins or not, it’s obviously a good sign to see your manager nominated for the league’s monthly award. With the fixtures Arsenal have coming up ahead of a tricky November, they really need to keep the winning run going now.
