Despite his match-saving cameo against Crystal Palace on Monday night, Alexandre Lacazette is likely to leave Arsenal in January with Inter Milan still leading the way in the race for his signature.

Inter Milan have reportedly made Alexandre Lacazette their ‘top target’ for a January move, but they also need to get rid of Alexis Sanchez, who has been told he can leave for free.

Arsenal know that unless they can sell their 30-year-old forward in January, he will leave for free in the summer when his contract expires.

Inter Milan have been linked with a move for Lacazette for a while now but they need to shift Alexis first.

The problem is Alexis’ wages, which preclude most other clubs from signing him, even though the Italians are happy to waive any sort of transfer fee to get rid of the forward.

As for Lacazette, Inter Milan are said to be preparing a three-year offer for the Frenchman which will come with wages of €4.5m-a-year. That works out at around £73k-per-week.

Lacazette currently earns £182k-per-week with Arsenal.

Speaking after his last-minute equaliser against Crystal Palace on Monday night, Lacazette discussed his backup role with Arsenal this season.

“It’s never easy to be on the bench, you always want to play and bring something to the team,” Lacazette said.

“This is what I tried to do.

“It’s my first time like this.

“I am just waiting my time, I work every day in training for this kind of moment when I can help the team and obviously today I scored so I’m really happy.”
