Mohamed Elneny has reportedly found an agreement ‘in principle’ with Galatasaray meaning that they just need to find an agreement with Arsenal for the move to happen.

I’ve no doubt that Galatasaray are interested in signing Mohamed Elneny, they’ve been linked for a while now and tried to land him in the summer.

The problem, as always with Turkish sides, is they want everything for nothing.

Elneny is out of contract next summer, so Galatasaray could sign him for their favourite price then.

However, they probably think they can talk Arsenal into cancelling the final months of Elneny’s contract in January.

That may not be beyond the realms of possibility. Arsenal have been willing to do that for a few players recently to get them off the books.

A lot may depend on how Arsenal’s midfield is looking in the new year as to whether they can afford to be without another body in there.

If Arsenal sign another midfielder in January, I would expect them to find some sort of agreement with Galatasaray to allow Elneny to move but, if they don’t, Gala are just going to have to wait until the summer for their freebie.
