There were a few specific injury problems for Arsenal going into the Premier League fixture against Leicester City this weekend, with Martin Odegaard returning to training but doubts remaining around Kieran Tierney and Ben White.

Unfortunately, Mikel Arteta confirmed in his pre-Leicester press conference that there may be others unavailable this weekend, following some problems picked up in midweek.

“There have been a few of them that haven’t been able to train,” Arteta said. “We picked some knocks during the game against Leeds. Hopefully today we will have better news.”

Arteta then spoke about the couple of injury absentees we do already know about. First, he gave an update on Tierney, who has missed the last couple of matchdays with a bruised ankle.

“He’s progressing in training,” Arteta explained. “Let’s see how he is today. He felt a bit better the last few days but he wasn’t 100% to start the other day. We’ll see how he is in the last 48 hours (before the match).”

As for White, the centre-back was taken off early against Leeds after struggling with a bug going around the club camp.

Arteta admitted the England international still hasn’t yet re-joined their sessions saying: “He hasn’t trained yet so we will have to see how he’s feeling and see how he is.”

It looks like Arsenal may well be without a couple of their usual starters for the trip to Leicester on Saturday. The backup brigade did a good job in a comfortable win on Tuesday, and some of them may need to step up again this time around.
