Leeds United will be missing a few of their usual starters through injury when they visit the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal on Tuesday.

In a break from the Premier League matches, Arsenal face Leeds United in the League Cup on Tuesday night, and the early team news suggests the visitors will be missing a few players.

The Athletic wrote on Thursday that both Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling wouldn’t make it back in time for the Arsenal clash, whilst Kalvin Phillips appears to be a 50/50.

The midfielder is healthy again after a calf problem and a hip problem, but Saturday’s game came too soon for him. Whether Tuesday is long enough for him to be ready again remains to be seen.

Robin Koch and Junior Firpo are also both out for Leeds at the moment.

Then there’s Raphinha, who picked up an injury during Leeds’ match on Saturday. Marcelo Bielsa described it as a ‘knock’ and the player himself said it was ‘nothing serious’, but it still seems unlikely he’ll be available by Tuesday.

Of course, it’s also pretty unlikely Arsenal will be naming a full-strength side for the match anyway. The League Cup is a good opportunity for some rotation, with the huge squad at Mikel Arteta’s disposal.

Both teams will probably be relying on at least a few of their backup brigade.
