New Arsenal signing Takehiro Tomiyasu has sent a message to the fans after completing his transfer from Bologna on deadline day.

Going into the final day of the summer transfer window, it looked as if all of Arsenal’s incomings may already be done. But from nowhere, links to Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu suddenly emerged, and the deal was done by the end of the day.

With the transfer finalisation being rushed through before the deadline, Tomiyasu held his medical in Italy, and he hasn’t yet had a chance to do the usual media interviews with the club.

Instead, he sent a couple of messages to the Arsenal fans, one on the club’s Twitter account and the other through his Instagram page.

“Hi, Arsenal supporters, I’m Tomi from Bologna,” Tomiyasu said. “I’m so happy to be part of the team. I promise you I will give everything to contribute to the team. I’m looking forward to seeing you in the stadium.”

“What a feeling,” Tomiyasu continued on Instagram. “I’m so happy to be part of this amazing club. I can’t wait to play with the shirts of Arsenal. See you at the Emirates stadium. The new journey has begun!”

Another nice thing to note was that in Tomiyasu’s farewell to the Bologna fans, he wrote that it was thanks to them he can now “fulfil the dream I was chasing, the Premier League, my great aspiration”.

Reports in the build up to the transfer highlighted how keen Tomiyasu was to play in the English top division, and now he has the opportunity to live that dream.
