Harry Clarke scored the first goal of his loan spell at Ross County against Scottish Premiership champions Rangers on Sunday, though he couldn’t help them avoid defeat.

Arsenal loan centre-back Harry Clarke made his second appearance for Ross County at the weekend, and he put in a strong performance despite a 4-2 defeat for his side.

Clarke was making his first start for Ross County, having previously featured for 45 minutes from the bench against Hibs. It was quite the fixture to make a full debut in, as Clarke’s loan side hosted the Scottish champions.

But Clarke didn’t seem fazed, scored his first goal and creating a couple more chances, completing nine of 17 long balls and making four clearances and blocking a shot on the defensive end.

You can watch his goal here from 1:47, and it’s also worth watching the excellent long pass he played to create a chance at 2:46.

Unfortunately, Clarke does also have to take his share of the blame for Ross County conceding four goals to lose the match, but that wasn’t an unexpected outcome against Rangers. The youngster managed to win his team’s Man of the Match award all the same.

If he can keep some clean sheets against some of the lesser sides and continue to provide a threat at the attacking end on set pieces, the loan defender could make himself a popular figure.
