England confirmed Gareth Southgate’s selections for the England squad this week, and Bukayo Saka is back in the squad again after his participation in the Euros over the summer. Unfortunately, Arsenal summer signings Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale didn’t make the cut.

That shouldn’t be hugely surprising, as both White and Ramsdale were late call-ups for the Euros in the first place. Neither of them were initially going to the tournament, but late injuries to various players saw them filling in.

White is also currently recovering from Covid-19, so even if England were considering calling him up soon, this probably isn’t the best international break to do it in.

As much as it’s bad news for the two players, Arsenal may be quietly pleased to hold onto the pair over the break. With all the recent squad fitness and health issues, they won’t want to lose anyone else. At least we’ll only have to keep our fingers crossed for Bukayo Saka now.
