Football.London report that Rob Holding remains focused on the upcoming season with Arsenal, and he’s set to stay at the club this summer. There had been some spiralling rumours on social media that he could leave for Newcastle United, but those claims were inaccurate.

Realistically, there never seemed much chance that Newcastle would sign Holding on a permanent deal. After all, they’re already planning to bring in Joe Willock for up to £25m, which is pretty much their entire summer budget.

As for a loan move similar to the one proposed last summer, Newcastle sources are ruling that out too.

ChronicleLive report that Holding’s camp believe it’s extremely unlikely he’ll go out on loan this time around. Newcastle may well be in for a centre-back before the end of the window, but it doesn’t look like it’ll be Holding.

Holding undoubtedly has a fight on his hands for regular games this season. He has £50m signing Ben White to compete with on the right, and he’s very unlikely to break in at left-centre-back given Mikel Arteta’s preference for left-footed players on that side.

From an Arsenal point of view, we need options in case things go wrong, so there’s no great rush to force Holding out right now.
