Martin Odegaard’s future has been the subject of constant speculation ever since he first burst on to the scene a few years ago. Signing for Real Madrid, every season has seen a question mark placed over his future at the club.

Since leaving Arsenal after a short loan, Odegaard the media would have us believe that he has reportedly been told he will be a first-team player at Real Madrid next season, a bit-part player and that he’s up for sale as Real Madrid need some money.

Now, Dariogol are reporting that the player is actually set to get a chance as a Toni Kroos injury will force Real Madrid’s hand.

Kroos is reportedly suffering from pubalgia, a strain or tear in the groin in jury. Pubalgia is a notoriously tricky problem that can be stubborn in its refusal to heal. Kieran Tierney has suffered from osteitis pubis, a somewhat similar condition, and we saw the problems that caused him.

It is now being claimed that this injury has effectively closed the door on any Odegaard exit which could explain why we are seeing increased James Maddison chatter this week.

Odegaard is clearly Mikel Arteta’s preferred choice but what was a long-shot now seems almost impossible.
