Tunisia have named their squad for the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers in September, and Arsenal youth defender Omar Rekik has once again made the list to join up with his senior national side.

Tunisia will face Equatorial Guinea (Friday, September 3rd, 20:00) and Zambia (Tuesday, September 7th, 14:00) in the first games of their World Cup qualifying second round group stage, and Rekik will be hoping to make his competitive international debut during the two matches.

Rekik was called up by Tunisia over the international break in June, and he made his debut in a friendly, playing 45 minutes against Mali. But he’s still waiting to play his first competitive minutes.

The 19-year-old Arsenal defender has solely featured for the u23s competitively at club level so far, featuring in two wins and a defeat this season, but he seems to be highly rated as a prospect for his country. He also did feature in friendlies for the first team in pre-season.

Rekik joined from Hertha BSC earlier this year, but he had to wait a while to get a chance on the pitch due to an injury issue. His international experience will hopefully help him to push on with Arsenal.
