Mike McGrath reports that Arsenal are in talks over a deal that would see Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson move to Belgian Pro League club Oud-Heverlee Leuven. There’s no word yet whether it would be a loan or a permanent transfer.

Earlier in the summer, Rúnarsson came close to joining Altay Spor on loan, but the two clubs could not agree terms for the Iceland international.

Altay Spor were set to take the goalkeeper on loan for the season, but the deal fell through as they wouldn’t pay Arsenal’s proposed loan fee. Instead, they signed Wisla Krakow’s 24-year-old keeper, Mateusz Lis.

Since then, Arsenal have signed Aaron Ramsdale to add to their options in goal, with Arthur Okonkwo also agreeing a professional contract with the club. Rúnarsson’s chances of match action are next to non-existent this season, so he needs a move.
