Arsenal are happy to let Ainsley Maitland-Niles leave this summer and Everton are hoping they can land the 23-year-old on loan.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles Everton loan

Ainsley Maitland-Niles still seems determined to forge a career for himself as a midfielder even though he could establish himself in the Arsenal team if he would just accept a role as a right-back. As a result, Mikel Arteta is happy to the let the Hale End graduate, who joined Arsenal when he was just six, leave this summer, having used him sparingly during his time as Arsenal manager.

So far this season, Maitland-Niles has received just 29 minutes of action that came against West Brom in the League Cup during the week. That in itself points to his role at Arsenal given it is a competition AMN was almost always guaranteed to start in.

Everton are reportedly interested in signing Maitland-Niles on loan for the season with the clubs said to have a good relationship after deals for Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi, although I’m not sure how much Everton fans would agree with that.

For Arsenal, those deals were certainly good business. They sold the pair for a combined £47.6m and, for that, Everton got 11 goals and nine assists from Walcott and have five goals and five assists from Iwobi.

Arsenal want around £20m for Maitland-Niles but Everton would prefer a loan, no doubt wary of stumping up another load of cash for an Arsenal player, although in AMN they would get a player much more worth the money than either Walcott or Iwobi.

Maitland-Niles has two years left on his current Arsenal contract and is worth around £14.4m.
