Bacary Sagna recently hit out at Arsenal’s squad, saying there was nobody in it with any experience of winning titles, so I thought I’d find out just how many titles and cups the Arsenal players have won throughout their careers.

Sagna told Emmanuel Petit on RMC Sport, “Maybe we have players with character but they have won nothing. Today, you know how youngsters are, some older player tells them what to do.

“They say, “well, what have you won?”. A player who has won titles barely has to speak to be listened to.”

So, I thought I’d count them. I wasn’t doing it to prove Sagna right or wrong, I just wanted to know, one way or the other.

I made a decision not to count Community Shields/ Domestic Super Cups, while the youth trophies that are detailed tend to be Youth Euros/World Cup or Youth League titles, so not some little tin pot like the League Cup, which is also included.

The most trophied player at Arsenal until his release was Willian with 16 in his locker. The former Chelsea man has seven league titles, five domestic cups, two UEFA trophies and an international one.

Now he’s gone, that leaves Kieran Tierney, with his haul from Celtic, as the player at the club with the most trophies. He has five titles, four cups, and three league cups for a total of 12.

Granit Xhaka comes in next, but there is a big drop from Tierney to him, 50% indeed. Xhaka has two league titles, three cups and a major youth trophy to his name.

In third place is a name that surprised me – Mohamed Elneny. Hang on to your hats for this because the midfielder has four league titles. Yes, four. He also has an FA Cup, too.

There are only four players in the current Arsenal squad who haven’t won anything, and three of those arrived this summer – Ben White, Nuno Tavares, and Albert Sambi Lokonga. The other is Folarin Balogun.

In total, following Willian’s departure, this Arsenal squad has 16 league titles, 31 domestic cups, nine league cups, three UEFA trophies, five international tournament trophies and 10 major youth international trophies.

That’s 74 in total.

They might not have won much for Arsenal, but this is not a team devoid of players who have won titles, far from it, even Alex Runarsson has a league title!
