Arsenal have had a €20m bid for Lazio forward, Joaquin Correa, turned down.

Back in June, it was reported that Arsenal had made a €20m bid for Joaquin Correa but nothing more was heard of it. It was said at the time that it was unlikely to be successful because Lazio wanted €30m for the 26-year-old.

Now, Corriere dello Sport, are reporting that the bid was turned down. This would all seem to be self-evident. If the bid had not been turned down, we would have heard more about ongoing talks. What we heard, instead, was silence.

In fact, there is no need for this story at all which leads me to believe Lazio are trying to get things going again after two months of nothing much. The player would like to leave, Lazio would like some money, but everybody ran away at the thought of €30m and nobody has really come back since.

Arsenal do seem to be in the market for a forward this season with Alexandre Lacazette likely to be the man to make way. Tammy Abraham, however, has become a much more prominent name in recent weeks so it seems unlikely Arsenal will be returning for Correa anytime soon.
