Dejan Iliev is currently on his second loan spell to SKF Sered, having previously been on the books with them in 2019/20. Since then he’s played for Jagiellonia Bialystok, Shrewsbury Town, and he’s now back with Sered again.

Though the 26-year-old’s second debut didn’t entirely go to plan, with Sered losing 3-2 to Ruzomberok, Iliev bounced back to keep a clean sheet against Dunajska Streda over the weekend.

What’s more, his performance was recognised by the Fortuna Liga as he made their Team of the Week.

It’s encouraging for Iliev to have a strong performance early on in this loan, as the current season is a key one for him. Though he’s technically still under contract with Arsenal, the loan will take him to the end of his deal with the Gunners.

Assuming he isn’t recalled in January, that means this is effectively a permanent departure from North London. If he can impress with Sered and enjoys his second spell there, you’d imagine a free transfer and a permanent deal next summer would be on the cards.
