Dani Ceballos picked up a grade II ankle sprain in Spain’s opening Olympic game against Egypt, coming off after just 45 minutes and not featuring since.

The midfielder is now returning to fitness, however, and could well be in the Spain lineup for their game on Sunday against Brazil.

“He is evolving fantastically well,” coach Luis del Fuente said. “Today (Monday) he will also train.”

Spain beat Japan on Tuesday night 1-0 after extra time in the semi-final. Arsenal-linked Marco Asensio scored the winning goal after 115 minutes with Japan unable to find an equaliser.

Gabriel Martinelli, meanwhile, scored a penalty that helped Brazil beat Mexico 4-1 on penalties to also reach the final.
