Speaking to the media after Arsenal’s match against Chelsea on Sunday, Mikel Arteta discussed Bukayo Saka’s situation as it stands.

Saka was obviously heavily involved in Euro 2020 after a packed season with his club, but Arteta says it won’t be long until we see him back now.

“He’s back very soon,” Arteta confirmed. “He needed some holidays, he needed to be away. He had an incredibly busy year and he will be back with us in the next few days. We’re looking forward to seeing him.”

We’ve already seen Ben White return to action after his involvement with England, though the situations were very different given White didn’t feature on the pitch.

Still, it seems like this week we’re starting to see England internationals returning to their clubs for pre-season. Saka is unlikely to be ready for the early weeks of the new season, but it’ll just be good to have him around again.

You also never know just how quickly Saka might be available, once he’s back.

If he returns in a good condition, we’ve already seen with Granit Xhaka that it’s possible to go straight back into the team within a week or so.
