A swap deal involving Hector Bellerin and Kieran Trippier is a genuine possibility before the end of the transfer window, according to a report.

Football.London report that Hector Bellerin wants to leave Arsenal, and a swap deal involving Kieran Trippier is a genuine prospect. This follows a story from The Athletic claiming a Bellerin-Trippier swap deal was a possibility, though not an advanced one at that stage.

David Ornstein recently reported that Bellerín was growing extremely frustrated at the fact the club don’t seem close to finalising a departure for him. He’s made his desire to leave clear, and he’s ready to take a pay cut if necessary, but Arsenal haven’t managed to secure a deal.

That’s obviously in part due to the lack of serious offers for him. As we’ve seen with Joe Willock, Arsenal are willing to sell for the right price, but there aren’t many clubs around Europe paying decent money for players. The pandemic has hit most of them pretty hard.

As a result, a swap deal for Bellerin looks like the only realistic way Arsenal can move him on without completely writing off his value as an asset to them.

We know Trippier wants to come back to England this summer, though joining the local rivals of his former club probably wasn’t his first choice. Still, it does look like a deal that could potentially leave all parties in a better position than they were before, so I wouldn’t write it off.
