Arsenal and Mikel Arteta have confirmed the team news ahead of the Chelsea clash this weekend, and unfortunately, there isn’t much in the way of good news.

For a start, Gabriel Magalhaes, Eddie Nketiah, and Thomas Partey remain absent with their respective injury problems. Gabriel is aiming to be back in training later this month, Nketiah is aiming for early September, and Partey is aiming for the end of August.

Then, of the four players to contract Covid-19, two of them have already been ruled out of Sunday’s match. Alexandre Lacazette and Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson are both still recovering from the virus at this stage.

The news on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Willian is slightly better, as both are still to be assessed ahead of the match. At least they haven’t been ruled out yet.

Aubameyang has recovered and tested negative for Covid-19, it’s just whether he shows in training that he’s ready for a return to action.

“It’s still very uncertain,” Arteta said in his press conference. “I cannot give any answers today. I don’t know if they can train in a few hours and if they are going to be able to compete at the weekend. I don’t know.”
