Arsenal were reportedly interested in signing Amadou Diawara last summer, with a possible swap deal with Lucas Torreira being mooted. Sam Dean of The Telegraph reported that Arsenal made clear their interest in Diawara, following similar reports in Italy.

This summer, Roma have offered Diawara to Arsenal and Wolves, according to a report in Siamo La Roma, but both clubs turned the offer down.

Roma apparently tried to use Diawara in their poor efforts to sign Granit Xhaka. The Swiss midfielder is now set to stay with Arsenal and sign a new four-year deal. Roma needed to sell Diawara in order to have the money to buy Xhaka.

Roma would like around €16m for the 24-year-old, similar to what they wanted to pay for Granit Xhaka, who is worth at least €7m more.
