Arsenal will be missing three players when they face Brentford on the opening day of the season, and it seems all three are set for further weeks on the sidelines.
To begin with the good news, Arsenal haven’t confirmed any new injuries ahead of the Premier League opener against Brentford. The problems picked up by Thomas Partey and Eddie Nketiah against Chelsea remain the latest new problems for the squad.
Unfortunately, that’s where the good news ends. Partey, Nketiah, and Gabriel Magalhaes all remain absent for Friday’s game, and it doesn’t look like any of them will play another match this month.
On Partey, Arsenal write that he continues to be assessed, and should be back in training by the end of August following his ankle ligament injury. As for Nketiah, he has bruising to his right ankle and won’t be back in training until early September.
Gabriel is also aiming to rejoin training in early September, with the emphasis on “aiming”. Whilst Arsenal write that Partey and Nketiah are “expected” back in training by the end of August and early September respectively, Gabriel is only “aiming” for early September.
There seems to be more uncertainty around Gabriel’s injury at the moment, so we’ll just have to see how things progress.
