Earlier in the summer, Arsenal sent out a list of eight u23 players available for loan, but it was always clear that wasn’t going to be extensive. We’ve already seen the likes of Daniel Ballard and Matt Smith leave on loans despite not featuring on the list.

According to James Benge, Tyreece John-Jules is another not previously named who is set for a loan this season. Benge reports that Arsenal are working through John-Jules’ many suitors, with first-team football a priority for the player and for his club.

John-Jules has already had a couple of senior loan moves, but they were both heavily disrupted by injury problems. He seemed to be well-liked by his coaches at Lincoln City and Doncaster Rovers, he just didn’t have as much time on the pitch as they wanted.

The priority will be to change that this season. Benge suggests that whilst a move to the Championship is certainly an option, it’s difficult to guarantee minutes, as we saw with Eddie Nketiah at Leeds United.

So perhaps another season in League One makes the most sense. If he can guarantee minutes, and keep up his 2020/21 ratio of goals/assists per minute (one every 147 minutes in League One) for a full campaign, he could return in 2022 in a strong position.

For the time being, John-Jules is in training with the Arsenal u23s.
