Last week, we covered reports that Sheffield Wednesday were considering a move for Arsenal left-back Tolaji Bola. These claims turned out to be accurate, with Bola since featuring for the club on trial.

Arsenal Youth report that Bola featured in Wednesday’s friendlies against Chester and Alfreton, playing as a centre-back and impressing.

Given Bola last extended his deal in 2018, he likely only has a year left on his contract now, so a loan or a permanent departure effectively amount to the same thing.

The 22-year-old does need a move, as Arsenal have never shown any willingness to integrate him. The club have often been low on left-backs in recent years but chosen to play midfielders and wingers in the position, rather than promoting Bola.

Last season, he went on loan to Rochdale, making 12 appearances before the end of 2020. But Arsenal recalled him after he fell out of favour, and he ended the campaign playing for the u23s.
