The Athletic report that Kido Taylor-Hart is close to signing a new deal with Arsenal, and it’s expected the fresh contract will run for three years. He’s been out of contract since the end of June, so this would re-commit him to the club.

As this is his first professional contract, it’s no surprise it’s only lasting for three years rather than four or five. That’s standard for a first professional deal, they never last for longer than three years.

Football.London initially broke the news that Taylor-Hart was set to sign a new long-term contract with Arsenal. Negotiations reportedly began back in March, but amid plenty of interest from elsewhere, he’s decided to commit his future.

Interestingly, there’s no sign of Taylor-Hart in training with the Arsenal first team in Edinburgh just yet. It seemed possible he’d get a call-up for the trip, but the u23s also have a friendly scheduled this week as an alternative.

Arthur Okonkwo signed his deal recently and is on the senior tour, so perhaps when Taylor-Hart signs his he’ll get a chance too.
