On Friday, various reports emerged to finally confirm that Albert Sambi Lokonga was preparing for his Arsenal medical. Belgian outlet HLN and journalist Sven Claes reported that the medical would take place on Friday or Saturday.

This was echoed in England, where Charles Watts reported for Goal that the medical would take place soon in Belgium to help get the transfer finalised as quickly as possible.

Sadly, it’s going to come a little too late for Sambi Lokonga to join Arsenal’s training camp in Edinburgh, but he should arrive in time for the Florida Cup trip to America.

Fabrizio Romano reports that it’s just a matter of paperwork now, after Arsenal reached an agreement with Anderlecht on Tuesday evening. He adds that Sambi Lokonga turned down two bids from Italy to join Arsenal instead.

If I had to guess, I’d say those two bids came from Atalanta and Napoli. They were the clubs linked with Sambi Lokonga last month.

It’s always nice to hear that a player has picked your club ahead of the alternatives. It looks like it won’t be long until he’s free to tell us why he did so himself.
