Alan Nixon reports that Salford City are taking a look at Arsenal goalkeeper Dejan Iliev, planning a possible move this week. Whether on loan or a permanent move, it would mean the end of Iliev’s Arsenal spell, as he only has a year left on his deal.

Salford were certainly in the market for a goalkeeper this summer, after selling Václav Hladký to Ipswich Town. Though it’s worth mentioning they’ve also recently signed Tom King, so at the very least Iliev is going to have competition.

Iliev spent the first half of last season on loan with Shrewsbury Town in League One, but once Matija Sarkic returned to fitness he struggled to even make the squad. Arsenal ended up recalling him in January amid a couple of injury problems.

Now 26 years old with three loans in the last two seasons, it’s clear that it’s time for the goalkeeper to move on and make his mark somewhere else on a more permanent basis – whether that’s Salford or elsewhere.
