Football.London report that Runar Alex Runarsson will spend the season on loan with Altay Spor. He’ll travel this week to sign the deal, with Arthur Okonkwo to take his place as the third-choice goalkeeper in the squad.

Arsenal are still trying to sign a second-choice goalkeeper, with Aaron Ramsdale a target. Bernd Leno remains the number one, of course.

Turkish journalist Ege Engin originally reported earlier this month that Altay Spor were in the final stages of a move for Runarsson. Charles Watts then picked up the story, confirming that Runarsson was close to leaving.

At the time, there was little clarity over whether or not the move would be permanent, but it now appears it will only be a loan.

The important thing is that Runarsson gets out there to a new club and starts playing again. It’s hard for him to improve his reputation at Arsenal from the bench.

The Iceland international needs a fresh start somewhere. If he can get back on track this season, a permanent move might follow.
