Links between Houssem Aouar and Arsenal are hotting up, but contrary to claims on social media, his agent wasn’t in London this week.

Posting on his Instagram story on Friday, a close friend of Houssem Aouar confirmed he was in London. Many Arsenal fans took to social media to share the update, believing the friend to be Aouar’s brother and agent, Brahim.

However, Houssem Aouar then confirmed the account belonged to “one of my best friends, not my real brother…by the way…not my agent also”.

ESPN reported earlier in the week that Arsenal were considering reviving their pursuit of the player, once they’ve offloaded at least one more midfielder. Obviously, that’s very possible, with the likes of Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira set for moves.

The same outlet confirmed that Lyon are open to business at €25m and Aouar wouldn’t rule out a move on the basis of a lack of European football.

This was on top of TheAFCBell writing that Arsenal do hold an interest in Aouar, though there are no advanced talks and they’re focusing on other signings right now.

Foot Mercato’s Dahbia Hattabi has also since reported that Arsenal are maintaining contact with Aouar, but they are yet to make a concrete move. So, the three sources are in agreement on that front.

Houssem Aouar recently spoke out to deny claims he’s trying to force a move away from Lyon, but it does seem like one is on the cards.
