Football Insider report that Harry Clarke has been given the green light to complete a season-long loan to Ross County, and he’ll undergo his medical tests today. All terms have been agreed, so the transfer should be completed in 24 to 48 hours.

The timing certainly seems feasible, given Clarke posted on his Instagram story seemingly waving goodbye to the Arsenal training centre on Thursday.

On Wednesday night, the Daily Record and The Inverness Courier reported that Ross County were closing in on a loan deal for Clarke.

The Daily Record wrote that Ross County had held talks with Arsenal, and they were just waiting for the go-ahead. The Inverness Courier suggested they’re hoping to complete the loan signing early next week, but it seems now it could be sooner.

From Arsenal’s end, Chris Wheatley confirmed the reports, writing on Twitter that Clarke is close to signing for the Scottish Premiership club.

The loan would be a step up from last season, which Clarke spent in League Two with Oldham Athletic. That was the central defender’s first loan spell, and it went well as he made 35 appearances, but this loan should provide him with tougher tests.

Clarke joined the first team in pre-season, but he was always likely to go on loan, having been listed as available for one early in the summer.
