L’Equipe (via Sport Witness) report in their print edition that Arsenal and Liverpool are both ‘very interested’ in Renato Sanches, and he could join one of the Premier League clubs after arousing their interest with his performances at Euro 2020.

Lille are reportedly in the process of selling players this summer to raise funds, so an exit isn’t impossible, though both Arsenal and Liverpool only get brief mentions.

The 23-year-old has been with Lille since 2019, so he spent a season with Gabriel Magalhaes before the defender moved onto Arsenal. Or at least the best part of a season, before the campaign was cut short early by the pandemic.

It’s that relationship between the two players which is getting Arsenal fans the most excited. Gabriel recently commented “come to Arsenal” on Sanches’ latest Instagram post, to which Sanches responded, “I’m [waiting] for your invitation”.

As mentioned, Sanches caught the eye at Euro 2020, and he also had a positive season with Lille as they won the Ligue 1 title. Though it is worth mentioning that he had a couple of injury problems throughout the campaign.

The question is how much he’ll cost. Arsenal need midfield reinforcements, the Portuguese international has the right kind of profile, but if Lille want the kind of money they wanted for Nicolas Pepe, it’s not going to happen.
