Amid the links to Arsenal this summer, Martin Satriano’s agent has confirmed the Gunners were interested in his client even before he joined Inter Milan.

Earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported that Arsenal were one of a number of Premier League clubs targeting a move for Martin Satriano, with Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, and Everton also tracking the forward.

Speaking to the Italian media, Satriano’s agent Nick Maytum confirmed that the Gunners made an effort to sign the player even before he moved for Inter Milan in the first place.

“Inter are Inter, the Nerazzurri snatched him from Cagliari and Arsenal,” Maytum said (via Sport Witness). “Martin was very excited when he signed with the Nerazzurri, despite being young & this signing meant changing his lifestyle from a very young age.”

In the Mail’s report, they suggested Arsenal were in the market for striking reinforcements, and Inter are aware they may have to cash in on Satriano to help the club settle debts, despite how highly they rate him.

The 20-year-old spent last season playing with Inter Milan’s academy team, Inter Milan Primavera. He scored 14 goals and assisted a further six in 30 appearances as his side narrowly missed out on top spot in the league on goal difference.

At the moment, Arsenal aren’t struggling for options up front. They have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Folarin Balogun, and Eddie Nketiah on tour, with Tyreece John-Jules and Nikolaj Moller available for loan moves.

You’d think at least a few players on that list would need to leave before Satriano even became a serious consideration this window.
