Di Marzio report that after winning the Copa America with Argentina this summer, Guido Rodriguez could be set to leave Real Betis. He’s attracting interest from Arsenal, and Betis are asking for €30m (£25.7m).

From Betis’ point of view, they need to sell before they can start to delve into the market, so it appears they’ve open to a departure if their valuation is met.

Rodriguez is an excellent defensive midfielder, excelling in stats for pressures, tackles, aerial duels, blocks, clearances, and interceptions. He was a regular feature in the Argentina side that won Copa America, making six appearances and four starts.

The questions Arsenal fans will be asking about the signing will relate more to his abilities on the ball, as he hasn’t been a hugely progressive player for Betis.

Perhaps he doesn’t need to be. Maybe the plan is to have a defensive midfielder supported by the likes of Thomas Partey and Albert Sambi Lokonga who can play forward effectively. But it’s at least a point worth mentioning.
