Martin Odegaard looks set to stay with Real Madrid as the Spanish giants ready a new deal for him. According to Defensa Central there had been fears in Madrid that Odegaard would refuse to renew his deal as long as Zinedine Zidane remained at the club but now, with the Frenchman gone, they are working on a new deal.

Throughout the course of Odegaard’s loan it was always claimed that, while Zidane didn’t rate the 22-year-old, the Real Madrid hierarchy did and were concerned about losing him. In fact, Defensa Central say that Odegaard’s situation was one of the factors in Zidane and the club parting ways.

With Odegaard saying he’s tired of changing clubs all the time, it seems highly unlikely at this point that he will be playing anywhere other than in the white of Real Madrid this season.

As a result, Arsenal seem to have turned their attentions elsewhere as they look to replace the half-dozen midfielders they could get rid off this summer.
