Schalke posted on their site on Thursday to confirm that they can’t afford to keep Sead Kolasinac on. They wanted to make a decision early in the summer to give Kolasinac some certainty over his next steps.

According to various reports, the left-back could now move on to Turkey or Italy. The latest club named in the race are Napoli, with FantaCalcio claiming they’re looking at Kolasinac as an experienced alternative in their full-back position.

On Sunday, FotoMac reported that Fenerbahce were interested in reuniting Kolasinac with ex-Arsenal teammate Mesut Özil. However, the outlet added that they’re only likely to go after Kolasinac if they sell Filip Novak, which isn’t certain at this stage.

According to Sabah (via Sporx), Galatasaray have contacted Arsenal for Kolasinac, and the player has already enquired with Özil over playing in Turkey. Lazio are another club reportedly interested.

Between Lazio and Napoli, Galatasary and Fenerbahce, Kolasinac appears to have options regardless of the country he ends up in. It’s a shame he can’t return to Schalke, following their relegation, but it looks like he’s on the way out anyway.
