Arsenal still have contract offers on the table for Kido Taylor-Hart and Arthur Okonkwo, but they’re yet to sign them with less than a month to go with the club.
Two highly-rated academy players with plenty of uncertainty about their futures going into this summer are Kido Taylor-Hart and Arthur Okonkwo. As things stand, their contracts expire on June 30th and they’ll be free to leave.
Taylor-Hart is a winger who can also play centrally, and he stepped up to the Arsenal u23s this season to score four goals in 13 appearances. He also scored a further seven goals and provided five assists in his 17 appearances for the u18s and u21s.
Art de Roche writes for The Athletic that talks are ongoing with Taylor-Hart and an offer from Arsenal remains on the table. But he also has interest from other unnamed English and European clubs.
Chris Wheatley confirms that a contract offer is on the table for Taylor-Hart, and adds that there’s one for Okonkwo as well.
Okonkwo is a goalkeeper, considered a promising talent. The tall 19-year-old made eight appearances this season, and he would’ve made more if not for all the first-team call-ups towards the end of the season.
With Arsenal’s non-homegrown squad limit issues, Okonkwo often had to step up in place of Runar Alex Runarsson for the Europa League bench.
Reports from last month suggest talks with Okonkwo are going fairly positively. But there’s still nothing signed yet and it’s up to the player now.
We should get definitive answers on the two players by the end of the month.
