On Monday afternoon, Chris Wheatley reported that Granit Xhaka is edging closer to signing for AS Roma. This was quickly followed by a number of reports from Italy on the subject.

Di Marzio report that Roma are continuing to work on the move, after seeing their initial offer of €15m rejected. Calciomercato add that Roma have now raised their bid to €20m including bonuses.

RomaPress claim sources around Roma and Xhaka’s entourage have confirmed a complete agreement is edging closer. Sky Sport Italia (via SiamoLaRoma) claim Arsenal have assured the player they’ll let him go for a fair offer.

Back in England, The Telegraph report that Xhaka is on the verge of joining Roma, closing in on a switch to Serie A for a fee of around £15m.

The Evening Standard add that Roma are pushing to tie up the deal before Switzerland’s Euro 2020 campaign begins.

Unlike The Telegraph, the Evening Standard claim there’s still some dispute over the price, with Roma hoping for a £15m deal but Arsenal thought to want closer to £20m.

We’re running out of time to see a deal go through before the Euros now, as Switzerland play their first game on Saturday. We’re either going to see a lot of progress in the next few days or we’ll likely have to wait for up to a month for the end of the tournament.
