As we covered on Thursday, The S*n initially broke the news of a £30m Arsenal bid for Emi Buendia. They added that Norwich are looking for £40m, knowing they’re handing 20% of the fee over to Getafe through a sell-on clause.

TheAFCBell were next to weigh in on the reports, claiming Arsenal had made a £30m bid without add-ons or incentives, and Norwich rejected the offer. However, talks are ongoing.

Chris Wheatley confirms the Arsenal bid and adds that Aston Villa have also matched the Gunners’ offer, but there’s ‘no rush’ to get a deal done.

Ashley Preece of the Birmingham Mail reiterates that both clubs have lodged bids this week. Preece says Buendia is aware of the interest from the two sides.

Interestingly, Norwich outlet Pink Un deny that there’s been an official bid for Buendia. They claim both clubs have simply made their interest in the player clear.

At the moment, the fact that multiple sources are corroborating the same information about a bid suggests there was at least some kind of approach. It’s worth keeping in mind the Pink Un’s denial, though.

It’s certainly clear that Arsenal are making Buendia one of their key targets this summer. The 24-year-old is currently away on international duty with Argentina.
