Arsenal are one of the clubs keeping a close eye on Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli at the European Championships, according to a report.
Sky Sports Italia (via Football-Italia) claim Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, and Paris-Saint Germain are watching Manuel Locatelli as he prepares to take on the Euros with Italy.
Juventus are also interested, but they reportedly can’t afford him. Their only way in would be to attempt to convince Sassuolo to agree to a part-swap deal.
Sassuolo want €40m to sell the midfielder, and they could drive that price up even further if he impresses on international duty. Locatelli is expected to start against Turkey in Italy’s opening game.
Previous reports also suggest Real Madrid are interested in Locatelli, and they’re looking to sell Dani Ceballos to raise money for the Italian international.
We know Arsenal are in the market for midfielders, and Locatelli is one of the top options available. His stats in and out of possession are excellent and he’s still just 23 years old with room to grow and improve further.
So it’s not exactly surprising Arsenal are looking at Locatelli, it would just be a bit of a shock to see them fight off the heavy competition for his signature to land him without Champions League football, given his price tag.
