TheAFCBell report that Arsenal have been in contact with James Maddison in recent months. Their sources confirm that the player is on the club’s shortlist, and could make a move at some point in the window.

The Arsenal outlet describe Arsenal’s interest as ‘indisputable’ but add that there are no guarantees the move will take place. Unlike Thomas Partey last summer, Maddison doesn’t have a release clause to activate if Leicester City won’t play ball in negotiations.

Chris Wheatley adds that he’s told that Mikel Arteta is a huge fan of Maddison and the midfielder is certainly a target. However, the fee will be an issue, and Chelsea may also consider making a move.

The Daily Mail claim Arsenal have made Maddison one of their main transfer targets. They reiterate that it would be a very costly move, with Leicester City reportedly rejecting an offer worth around £70m last summer.

But the Mail also add that Arsenal believe a deal may be a possibility if they make the right offer.

Maddison made 42 appearances for Leicester City last season, scoring 11 goals and assisting nine. He’s 24 years old, homegrown, and has a deal to 2024, so you can see why he’s worth so much money.
